For all the movie-fanatic millennials, and also for the casual movie-going individual, who also love their pup, here is a list of some of our favorite movies. We have also listed some of the top names inspired by these movies. Enjoy!
The Lion King
There’s nothing more nostalgic than naming your perfect pup after the most impactful children’s movie for the older portion of the millennial generation! While names like Nala and Simba are great (but usually claimed by friendly feline owners), you can’t go wrong with Zazu or Rafiki to capture the spirit of The Lion King and bring back sweet memories.
Toy Story
The original Toy Story movie was released in 1995 and the most recent, Toy Story 4, was released in June of 2019. This movie spans generations and is an all-around favorite for the kid within all of us! Woody and Buzz make the perfect names for a duo of dynamic pups who are destined to be pals forever while Slinky is the perfect fit for the Dachshund or other long and lanky pup in your life.
The Matrix
The Matrix debut in 1999 was an accurate representation of the generational gap between the Baby Boomer and Millennial generations as it depicted an escape from reality and provided a sense of revolution and progressiveness. Try a name like Neo, Cypher, or Morpheus for your newest furry friend and reminisce The Matrix!
Star Wars
Star Wars has become a massive movie empire over the last couple of decades. With its digitized enhancements and intergalactic nature, it checks all the boxes for the millennial generation. Consider names like Darth Vadar, Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Chewbacca (Chewy for short) to show your appreciation for “The Force”!
The Lord of the Rings
We all love a story where the small and seemingly insignificant character rises up and faces obstacles head-on with gusto and grit. What better way to remind us of the hero inside of us all than to pick a name from The Lord of the Rings? Frodo, Gandalf, Arwen, and even Gollum are some of our favorites!
Legally Blonde
Nothing like Legally Blonde to cheer you up and remind you that you can do anything you set your mind to! With her spunky personality and impeccable fashion sense, Elle Woods proved herself to be entirely capable and even unstoppable at Harvard Law. Naming your perfect pup Elle, Chutney, Bruiser, or even Warner (the crappy boyfriend) is an excellent reminder to embrace your inner Elle Woods and make yourself proud!
The Fast and the Furious
No other movie features style and luxury quite like The Fast and the Furious. If you have a need for speed and love this action-packed film as much as we do, then consider names like Dominic, Letty, Shaw, or Hobbs for your fast and furious fur baby!
Napoleon Dynamite
An extremely low budget couldn’t stop the major success of Napoleon Dynamite! Its lighthearted and simple humor stole the laughs of millennials everywhere and tops the charts for the most quotable and meme-friendly films of all time! Napoleon, Pedro, Rico, and Kip are great options for the hilarious pup in your life!
Harry Potter
First through the books and then through the movies starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001, millennials have grown up alongside Harry Potter and his friends. If you love Harry Potter like we do, then the names Harry, Hermione, Dobby, and Hagrid are just a few options you’re sure to love too!
8 Mile
Celebrating Hip-Hop and the rise of the underdog, 8 Mile features Eminem – the biggest solo music artist of the millennial generation. If you’re looking for a unique name for your newest pupper, consider B-Rabbit or Cheddar Bob. These two will definitely catch the attention of others just like 8 Mile did in 2002.
Mean Girls
There’s no other depiction of the cut-throat nature of young millennial relationships (especially between girls) that’s as accurate as Mean Girls. Through humor and twisted story lines, Mean Girls sheds light on the truths of being a young millennial all while creating some of our favorite movie moments. Some of our favorite names for your sassy pup are Regina, Gretchen, and Cady!
The Notebook
Ahhh… there’s just no comparison to the love story that is The Notebook. Noah and Allie, the starring characters in the film, create moments that make every millennial swoon through their intense attraction and their sweet affection for one other. Name your pup or pups after them and you’re sure to be reminded of this timeless romance!
